Discovered that most glue won't survive being brought below 0 degrees Celsius. Might be obvious to other folks, but my mother makes life difficult for me if she can smell glue [doesn't care about dad's gallons of tolulene, bleach obsession or other chemical smells, mind] so its tricky to store it indoors. There are certain things in this life that people whom they affect believe everyone should agree with them about. Gay marriage is a big one. I don't want to get into it, but because I'm both strongly for religious autonomy and have a fistful of gay friends, the only strong opinion I can form is "I don't want to get into this," as anything I say becomes a quagmire of political correctness and hurt feelings. I'd happily stay way from it but for one thing; one of my gay friends keeps facebook proselyting about it. The fact that this is mostly in the form of things stating, "if you don't agree with this, you're a bigot," is getting kind of ann

My favourite Shakespeare play, by far, is the Tempest. You could imagine it as one of the earliest Sci-Fi stories, if you like, as unlike Faustus, it concentrates on the ways that power and the alien situation change the people within the situation. Accourding to Clarke [I think], that's the best kind of science fiction, and I agree. The funny thing about plays, is that you can so easily tilt them. Julie Taymore displays this admirably [well, the demonstration is admirable, the film less so] in her 2010 interpretation of the film.
